The new orchestra, under the leadership of Messrs. George Brand and Louis Ballenberg, Is still diligently rehearsing and rapidly assuming the compact aud organized character of a flrst-class corps de musique. Among the thirty-eight performers are several who have already enjoyed considerable distinction in the musical world at large, as, for instance, Mr. William Geiselbrecht, a composer of some note, whose assistance in the work of perfecting the orchestra is highly esteemed, bofch by the leaders and performers, has for years been favorably known to the musical public of many of the capitals on the European continent as a musical director and author, while being a perfect virtuoso upon his favorite instrument, the violoncello.At the ensuing opening concert the celebrated “Unfinished Symphony of Schubert” will begiven by this organization, and judging from oneof their many rehearsals and from “what we know” of the discriminating intelligence of Cincinnati coucert goers, the “Unfinished Sym-phouy” will be received with a most lively appreciation, aud the new orchestra corps will be uuanimously accorded the rank of first-class, and as meeting in the fullest sense that ardent desire and necessity long felt in this community.TnE Executive Committee of the Cincinnati Musical Festival have appointed, as Committee of the Cincinnati Chorus of the Musical Festival, the following gentlemen:S. D. Cary, Vice President Harmonic Society; Joseph Wollinger, President Orpheus; F. Arand, President Maennerchor; H. W. Ileyne, President Germania; Mr. Heister, President St. Cecilia; Geo. Beiuert, President Druid Maennerchor; Elias Guthardt, President Harugari Maenner-ehor.The duties of this committee will be to cooperate for the more complete organization of the diffufent Societies in the formation of the select chorue.The Maennerchor, Harmonic and Orpheus Societies have unanimously accepted the invitation to participate in the festival.TV a ** ^___
