Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leisen and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leisen and their families spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Leisen and family, Altura, Miss Joan Leisen accompanied them home and is spending a week here. Miss Margaret Wisman, attending bus iness college in Minneapolis, spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Wisman. Mr. and Mrs. Mac, Domish, Wabasha, have moved to the village and are occu pying one of the apartments in the Schierts building. Mrs. Domish will teach in the local school the coming term. Mrs. Alvin Gill, Winona, “visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wehrenberg, Cookes Valley, this weekend, Mrs. Cecelia Herron and Miss Marie Kraus spent Thursday and Friday of last week in Eau Claire. Seaman Francis Files, stationed on a battleship, arrived home Tuesday on 206 days’ leave. He has seen service in three theaters of war in the past 18 months, Mrs. Charles Wolfe returned Tuesday from Minneapolis, where she visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. ¢. Ginthner. Irven Schouweiler returned home last Thursday from the Veterans’ hospital, St. Paul, where he had undergone a major operation seven weeks ago. He is recov ering satisfactorily. ' t. The Misses Goss and Phyllis Miller, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, had tonsil operations at St. Elizabeth’s hospital, Wabasha, Monday, F. H. Lee, Waukon, Ions, apent Monday and Tuesday here, Mrs. Robert Hoy spent the weekend with friends in Minneapolis, returning home, Monday evening. The local threshing seasons under way ‘this week on the lghter soils and where grain was planted early. Grain yields vary considerably with osts running from 35 ‘to 70 bushels per acre and spring’ wheat ten to 30 bushels per acre, according to reports. Average yield is said to be slight ly under normal. Alvin Day came Sunday and moved a truckload of furniture which he had a hero to his home at Tunnel City, 8. Mrs. Elsie Carlson, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Edward Kraus, Chicago, returned to their homes Wednesday after several days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.W. F. Lehman, Chief Aviation Machinist's Mate Warren .Timm left Wednesday to return to serv ice at Jacksonville, Fla., after a ten-day leave spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Timm.
