(Summer Colony.) Mr. FE. 1B. Cane and family left on Monday morning in their yacht Cane, after spending the season at the MacKay-Smith cottage. The Cane and Needle left about 9 o'clock, Mon day morning, with all hands on board and set sail for Marblehead, where they will make their first stop. Next season the Capes will have one of the finest cottages on the Island to occen py and during this summer they have been able to watch with a great dest of interest the erection of this large structure . The Dane cottage was started in the early spring and work has been rushed since that time, so that before the Danes set sail on Mon day morning they were able to see their mansion up and boarded in and a good part of the stone work com pleted. This immense structure has been erected in shorter time than any other building about here that is any where near its size. Those passing by the point this summer have been able to see the large struture grow every day and the stone tower seem ed to be raised in a very short time after it was started. The cottage When completed will add greatly to the attractiveness of Seal Harbor as a summer resort and the illumination of It at night time will be seen from far out. 10 sea. This together with the Hanna cottage will make it ap pear that Seal Harbor is a small city. Mr. Oscar Webber of Detroit is spending a few days with his mother at the Glengoye. Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Fister of New York were at this resort for a few days the latter part of the week. Mrs. McConnell and Miss McConnell left on Monday after spending the summer at this resort. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Tucker, Miss Carter, and Miss Ogden of New York are at the Seaside for a couple of weeks Mrs. Lawrence Mayo of West New ton and Miss Merril of Newton Cen tre are among the late arrivals at the Seaside. The Misses Pancoast, who have been summering at the Glencove Ieft this week for their home in German town, Miss Elizabeth Witherup of Phila delphia was at the Seaside on Satur day for the day. Mr. and Mrs. 8. R. Prentiss and Miss Prentiss have returned to their home in Bangor after spending the season at this resort. . There are to be some races be tween the Knockabouts at this resort and Northeast Harbor during the nest three days of this week and a ogned deal of interest is being shown. A cup has been offered by Mr. C. Leland Harrison of Northeast and the races are open to all boats at these tea places. Curtis W. Cates of Boston was at the Hencove on Sunday for the day. The hotels at this resort seem to be holding their guests as long as usual his scaop and it is safe to say that the Seal Harbor hotel business has not been at all behind that of past seasons. The Seaside has been full most of the summer and the Glen cove has also done a good business. This year the Seaside will remain ‘open Lou) around the 20th of Sept
