A mutual admiration society is the latest wedge used by aspiring screen actors to gain entrance into the movies! With the odds against a movie gtrack kid being almost as one- sided as your chances of winning the Irish Sweepstakes, the success of this latest device to win the at tention of studio casting directors proves there’s no end to the in genuity of ambitious youth. The plan was so effective that not only did one member of the society get a contract, but the entire mem bership comprising three boys and a girl. The girl is vivacious Grace McDonald featured with the An drews Sisters in Universal's “Give Out, Sisters’ now at the Manos Theater. The recent signing of Miss Mc Donald by Universal to a term con tract rounds out a story, which, written as a scenario, might well be titled “Three Smart Boys and a Girl.” Started In Vaudeville It all started up few years ago in New York when Grace and her brother Ray were a kid dancing act in vaudeville, or what there was of Vaudeville at the time. Between engagements, the Mc Donalds would keep limber in the all Forty-fifth street dancing dip of their friend, young John ny Mattison. It was at Mattison’s rehearsal hall that they met another wide-awake youngster like themselves—a 11- year-old actor who had dancing am bitions. His name was Dan Dailey, or. The three made a pact that each of them would boost the other and boost Mattison whenever possible. The success of the project resulted in prominent Broadway engage ments for all four. Hollywood rec ognition came quickly and three of the quartet worked in “Give Out, Sisters.” Johnny Mattison directed the dances. Grace has the romantic lead in the gay picture and sharing it with her is Dan Dailey, Jr.
