Seventeen-year-old Anne C. Lehmenkuler is this year’s Betty Crocker homemaker of tomorrow for Fairborn high school by virtue of scoring the high est in a written knowledge and attitude examination taken Dec. 7. She is now eligible for state and na tional scholarship awards ranging from $500 to $5,000. Anne was one of more than 570,000 senior girls in 14,714 of the nation’s high schools who enrolled for the examination, SHE’S THE daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Leh menkuler, 614 Dorado dr., and a native of Springfield. She attended Catholic Cen tral high school in Spring field her freshman through junior years, coming to Fairborn last September. Although Anne has never studied home economics in school, she is well versed in the art. She’s the eldest of four children and helps a lot at home, according to her mother. Teased because she has had no formal training in home economics, Anne was determined to take the ex amination because she felt she “might have a chance.” Since coming to Fairborn high school, she’s been ac tive in the Future Teachers of America (she teaches an hour a day at East school), Fairborn’s Fearless Fol lowers, the newspaper staff and the National Honor So ciety. At her previous school she was in the Glee, Spanish, Library and All Star clubs, National Honor Society and Junior Classi cal league. SHE INTENDS to go into Anna Mae to Meet Dorothy Donaghy, 1175 Peebles Sr., will be hostess, to the Anna Mae circle of Aero chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Wednesday for a noon luncheon. Mem bers are asked to contact Mrs. Donaghy to let her know if they are coming and also to bring table service, elementary education studying either at Ohio Uni versity or Wright State. Her test paper in the home maker of tomorrow contest is being judged competi tively with those all school winners in the state. From them, the state home maker of tomorrow will be named. The winner will re ceive $1,500 scholarship from General Mills, Inc., sponsor of the annual Betty Crocker search. Second place winner receives $500. Winners and advisers from the 50 states will receive a trip to the Colonial Wil liamsburg, Va., and Wash ington, D.C. Climax of the trip will be the naming of the 1966 Betty Crocker All- American homemaker of tomorrow. Her scholarship will be increased to $5,000.
