Franklin Mitchell Bottenfield, son of Isaac and Elizabeth Bottenfield, was born near Antioch, Monroe Co., Ohio, November 26, 1848. Died at his home in Sabina February 19, 1931, in his eighty-third year. He enlisted in the Civil War at the age of sixteen years as a member of Company G 187th Regiment and re mained in the service until the close of the war. As a member of the G. A. R. he manifested a deep inter est in its annual Memorial Day pro gram. When he took up his residence in Clinton County he made his home with Grandpa and Grandma Darby shire whose daughter Maggie he married on the 8th of December, 1876 This union was of short duration for death separated her from him on April 28, 1877. He was married to Mary Jane Mc Kay, December 31, 1881 and to them were born three children, Forest, Anna and Willard. He obeyed the gospel more than fifty years ago under the ministry of George Van Pelt and became a member of the Church of Christ at Sabina, faithfully remaining in its fellowship until his death. Three of his brothers and one sis ter have preceded him in death. A half brother, Forest Bottenfield, re mains, who lives in Nebraska. Be sides his wife and three children, he leaves seven grand-children whom he dearly loved, and a countless number of friends. “Soldier of Christ, well done!
