Home, Again—We were pleased on Saturday night to again meet the geniae smile of our peasant friend, Mr. Bistmaster McNeely, who arrived from the North and East by the mail train, Th excellent Wealth and spirits, considering the doubt that still hangs over the status of his head. In re gard to this matter, de anly knows that when he left Washington City he was still Postmaster at Evansville, a successor having neither been con firmed or even appointed—the gas trading of certain parties to the con trary notwithstanding. While in Washington City, Mr. McNeely, as we learn incidently, had an under standing with the Department that will probably result in additional mail facilities between this city and Cin cinnalty by the placing of an extra nail on the “ Bobtail,” to strive here at 9:15 A. M., and leave at 2:45 P. M., thus giving us two mails to and from the Bast fall, which with he a great convenence to our busness men, Ie was also given to understand thate men would again be placed on Green Rver whenever that stréim, can be navigated with regularity, a consum mation most devoutly to be wished for, and also the probability of two more waits a week by river to Cairo and Louisville,and as a preliminary move, the Department is ready to au thorze two additional visits a week between Evansville and Lousville on the same terms as it is now carried on Tuesday and Fridays, by the Cairo packets. Mr. Mu Neely also gave to the Super intendent of the money order office the names of some fifty offices, in Southern Indiana, and Ilinaia, and Southwestern Kentucky, to which the benefit oF that system ought to be ex tended, and by Spring the benefit will probably be extended to Boonville, Rockport, Camelton, Leavenworth, Carydon, Paoli, New Harmony, Pe tersburg, Loogootee, and Broomfield, Tudibnay also. to Owensboro, Hop k nville, Sedoney, and Smithland, Kentucky, and to Golcanda, Metropo lis, Burthethrowh, Caruil McLéans boro, Albion, Betton, Mt. Carmel, Marion, and Venna, Tlinois.. This arrangement, if carred out, will add greatly to the tinvenience of the ‘people of the towns above named. THe Rattroop Rospers—CwHar LEY AUSTIN sent FoR.— We yesterday met’ in’ the ‘city’ Detective ‘Barmore, who has for, some time past been working up the case of the robbing of the freight trains on the Ohio Mis sisippi and Jeffersonville Railroads. This system of wholesale robbery has been going on for six or eight months, and goods have been stolen to the value of $12 000 or 815,000, consisting of caddies of tobacco, chests of tea, bags of coffee, barrels of sugar, bar rels and sacks of dried fruit, boxes of boots and shoes, clothing, flour, c., c. Five or six weeks ago, Barmwere took the cause in hand and commenced working it up. His success has been remarkable. Nineteen of the thieves and receivers are new in jail or under bend to an swer. A few more who are simpli cated are yet at large, but will be pulled in due time. Hiram Johnson, of Rockford, is the reputed ringleader, insistedd by Wu. Reno, one of the celebrated family who have eat such a figure in the various courts of the State on burglars, safe-robbers...and thieves., In addition to these,there are’ Felling Johnsim (father of Hirun), Pronk Sparks, Robert Stont, Adamu W. Hipp, of Seyuour (who in Ue Feve yer, at that station, of the new rand), Stephen and James Green, Sam Campell, Charles Gusti nat, Robert Smith, John Burton, Gen. Feutrell, of Viuncennes, and known to this city. Thomas V. Billion, William Davis, Josep Bundy, Thomas Spray, Thomas Dean, Capt. A. Groves (a section boss on the Jeffersonville road), and Ahas. Austin, arrested in this city, makes the twentieth of the gang who have been “ pulled.” From Mc. Barmore we learned many inter esting details of their operations, and of the plans resorted to to trap them, but have not room to give full particu lars. Austin was arrested before and confessed his guilt, but managed to escape from the Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County, but he has again failed into Seed’ hands, and will, to day ‘be taken to Browntown to await trial. Detective Burmore has his headqhisters in Columbus, Todiana and has been instrumental in bringing many of the worst scoundrels in the State:to grief. PAtmeng these is Frank Reno, who is a tow ib hit at Tafayette, for robbing the safe of the Treasurer's office of Uerrol County.
