NAPLES — Fire gutted a two-story wood house last night on Weed Road. Firemen were called to the scene of the blaze about 1 p.m. and were at the fire until about 1 a.m. Naples Fire Chief Ronald Edgerton said, “The structure stil stands but the inside is completely gutted. He said the house is owned by Ralph Clark of Rochester. “Two people who lived there were not hurt,” he added. The chief said that the fire started near the kitchen area. Naples Police Chief said the fire started when one of the residents, Beverly May, knocked over a gasoline lantern she was filling in order to go to a barn to feed some horses. Edgerton said 100 volunteers from Naples, Atlanta, North Cohocton and Cohocton fought the fire. Six volunteers were given oxygen and some firefighters had minor cuts Ontario County Fire Coor dinator Harold Hayward of Honeoye aided in the in vestigation.
