Ken Martin, City Manager, announced that Mr. Bob Gallagher, Director of Fire and EMS Services for the City of Hobbs will be promoted to Assist ant City Manager effective July 1st. Mr. Gallagher has served in several administrative positions since his employment with the City of Hobbs in August of 1977. Mr. Gallaher served as recreation superintendent from August 1977 to March 1979 when he was appointed Administrative Assistant to then City Manager Joe Harvey. In June 1980, Mr. Gallagher was appointed Director of Fire and EMS Services. During the past five years many progres sive steps have been taken in the fire and EMS services, including the lowering of the fire insurance rating from class 6 to class 4, the addition of a new station and a 5 foot elevated platform track and advanced fire support training. The department’s fitness program has gained national attention while the entire five and EMS ser vices is recognized as one of the most outstanding in this part of the country Mr. Gallagher graduated from Goddard High School in Roswell in 1973, graduated with Honors from New Mexico Military Insti tute in 1975 and from New Mex ico State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Science Gallaher is 29 years old and one of four children of Jim and Alice Gallagher of Hobbs. Mr. Gallagher stated that he is “honored and thankful for the confidence shown by the City Commission and City Manager, Ken Martin. I will work diligently to build the trust of the city per sonnel as well as the citizens of Hobbs, I believe the past eight years have been a# imaturing pro cess as well a 'S4menp process, One i t ye Uy Combine towards my Bod of a full career with the City of Hobbs.”
