The high level Metro executive does admit that after a rush of summer releases, ‘there will be only two more MGM films scheduled to hit theatres this year. And he also concedes there is only one feature on the film's production schedule for the balance of 1973, “But we've ground to a halt only because ‘of the same problem that's plaguing every other studio:he writers’ strike, he insists. While that plague proceeds, Metro is Negotiating with Director Mike Nichols to helm the screen vursione of “The Last Tycoon,” the last F. Scott Fitegerald novel which was left unfinished at the time of his 1940 death. An Academy Award winning screenwriter has already been set for the project that will roll in January, but the studio will keep details classified until the Guild strike is settled. As soon as the Nichols directorial deal is down on paper, you can expect to hear that MGM has settled on Warren Beatty for the title tale of the Fitzgerald story that's been hailed as the best work ever of Hollywood and its inhabitants. The word is not that Jonatha Livingston Seagell” turned out as a smashing film and that “The Little Princes’ will be a royal cinema feast. And that takes care of two out of three of the world’s best selling allegories. The only one of the trio that hasn't been mate into a movie is Kahlil Gibran’s ''The Prophet! — and Producer Clive Hanks will take care of that oversight in London early next year. Onna White has been set to stage and choreograph the musical, and Banks is currently after Paul McCartney to become his “Prophet.” Producer Burt Rosen reports that Timex Carplas purchased “George” for fall season airing, the half hour situation comedy starring Marshall Thompson and featuring a giant St. Bernard named Geroge. The 26-episode series was shot in Switzerland last November and is currently airing on Canadian TV. “George’’ is already starled for 60 U.S. markets, and Rosen is anticipating (hoping) the number doubles by the time of its fall debut CIMT Arquette has three more treatments scheduled at the West Coast Acupuncture Clinic, then moves out of town for a ramp, with his five grandchildren run Virginia and a visit to his “Charlie Weaver Museum of Civil War History” in Gettysburgh, Pa. The fact that he's in shape to travel is SEI somewhat, of no wonder to the 47-year-old “Wollywood Squares” performer, who, was, left paralyzed by a stroke a year ago. He credits the Chinese form of medicalreatment as having a major help in his recovery and says, “When I first mentioned the idea to my doctor, he told me, ‘It's witchcraft, but it works.
