A Cappelta Singers And Highland Glee Club In ConcertCurrently in rehearsal for their combined concert on May 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Knight Auditorium of Babson College are The A Cappella Singers, a 54 voice women's choir, and the Highland Men’s Glee Club of Newton. Mrs. Astrid Thalheimer and Mr. Robert Prince, directors of these two well-known musical organizations, will share the conductor’s podium for this evening of classical and light classical entertainment.Mrs. Astrid Thalheimer, familiar to audiences in the South Middlesex area, will lead The A Cappella Singers in music of Paget, Palestrina, Brahms, Piioni, Barber and Bartok. She will also conduct a portion of the combined program ox choruses from great oratorios. At the present time, Mrs, Thalheimer, a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Boston University, is themusic director at the First Congregational Church of Acton. She is also a member of the Masters Singers and the Masterworks Chorale.Mr. Prince will direct the Highland Glee Club in The Reguiem of Cherubini and will also share a portion of the combined choruses. The choir director at the First Congregational Church of Weston, Mr. Prince is a graduate of Tufts University and is presently the Supervisor of Music for the Medford Public Schools.This evening will provide a rare treat for audiences in this area, as these two groups have never before appeared in concert together.
