Backing for the establishment of a National Youth Conservation Corps was voted by the Knights of Pythias and The Pythian Sis ters who met in Reno in grand lodge sessions last weekend. A resolution supporting the corps was presented to both bodies by Charles Hendel of Mark Twain Camp, a former Mineral County assemblyman, who has long been an advocate of such a plan. The resolution, presented as a petition from Esmeralda Lodge Lodge No. 16, Knights of Pythias, and Mineral County Lodge No. 51, Independent Order of Odd Fel lows, asked the grand lodge to support U. S. Senate Biull No. 812, calling for the establishment of the corps to be used primarily for conservation and forestry work. Hendel has advocated the plan as a means of combatting juvenile delinquency and preservation of natural resources. The U. S. Senate already has approved the measure and it awaits action in the House of Re presentatives. 1 The Knights of Pythias named Clarence Heuer Reno grand chan cellor, and Mrs. Ethelyn Covers ton of Fallon was named grand chief of the Pythian Sisters. Heuer replaces Frances Brooks of Reno, and Mrs. Coverston succeeds Mar jorie Chattin. The 1960 grand lodge sessions for Nevada will be held in Fatlon in September. The grand lodge officers will set the exact date.
